Minor dwellings are often used as a sleepout or to give a grandma or grandpa their own separate place to live. They can therefore be simple, cost-effective yet have all the amenities of a normal home.

Any minor dwellings we’ve designed in the past we’ve kept them on a timber foundation, enabling them to be shifted in future if needed.

Roof Styles

Below shows a mixture of different roof styles that can be used on this minor dwelling floor plan.

Designing the Minor Dwelling to Match Your Home

The best way to disguise your minor dwelling and prevent it from looking out of place is to use the same cladding, roofing, colors and textures as your existing home. This is often more expensive but certainly makes the small dwelling more visually appealing.
